If you're new to iRider, please save yourself time and potential frustration by reviewing the essentials on this page before you start. iRider works like an ordinary browser, but there are additional special features that aren't plainly visible.

Eliminate the wait with Surf-Ahead

Click links with the right mouse button to Surf Ahead — the new pages will download in order while you stay on the current page. When you're done with the current page, your first link will usually be ready. When you're done with the first link, the second one will be ready, and so on.

(On a mouse configured for left-handed use, use the left button to Surf Ahead.)

Surf-Ahead is especially useful on a page with many links you're interested in, such as search engine results or a magazine's table of contents.

You can also stay focused on your current page and feel free to Surf-Ahead any interesting links and review them later. No need to interrupt your current page and have to find your place again later.

To use context menus, hold right-click

The right mouse button is normally used for Surf-Ahead, so to use context menu commands such as Copy, Save Picture As, etc. — normally invoked by right-clicking — press and hold the right button for 1/2 second.

The mouse buttons can be customized, and you can choose to have right-click only invoke menus. To do so, use the Tools menu iRider Options command, go to the Navigation tab, and choose options in the Surf-Ahead section.

If your mouse has a middle button, you may prefer to use it for Surf-Ahead, though some users find this awkward to use, especially with a scroll wheel button. You can also assign no specific button to Surf-Ahead and instead hold down the Ctrl key while left-clicking a link to Surf-Ahead, but this can become tedious if you use Surf-Ahead frequently.

Use the Next Page command

Next Page takes you to the next downloaded page that you haven't visited yet, or the page that's closest to completion. (Keyboard: [F4] or [ * ] on the numeric pad.) Click Next Page when you're done with the current page and you're ready to go instantly to another downloaded page. Since pages don't always download in the order they appear in the Page List, Next Page is the usually the quickest way to go through pages.

Using Next Page in combination with Surf Ahead, you can fly through pages with little or no waiting, especially using the keyboard and mouse together.

Next Page also makes it easy to completely explore a website or multiple websites: just Surf-Ahead any links you might be interested in and use Next Page when you're ready for another page. No need to use the Back button, remember which parts of a site you've already seen, or wait for pages.

Click Next page (or press F4) to go to the next downloaded page, wherever it is

Open several links at once

Select text or images containing multiple links and click on one of the links to open all of them at once. Much faster than clicking them one-by-one. (You can also select links and then use the Open Selected Links command.)

You can even select multiple items in a Favorites (bookmarks) folder and click one to open them all.

Opening multiple links is an especially cool way to put a fast internet connection to work for you: just open bunches of pages and flip through them like a magazine or catalog. Don't bother scanning a list of links and wondering which ones you might be interested in: open them all and flip through the pages themselves. (On slower connections, you may need to be more selective in opening links that take time to download.)
